This may or may not be an issue but I couldn't be happy with myself if I didn't post.

I have two friends in two different Minis both of who say that their driver airbags
have been triggered by nudging a kerb / another car at under 5 mph.

One friend has serious burns on her arm.

If you have a Mini I'd get yours checked.

Is this pre or post (2004) facelift models (or both)?

Get one of the mods to put this in the Mini section as you'll probably find a more knowledgeable (sp?) there. As an opinion....my wife was forced up a high kerb in her car ('03 plate MCS) by a tw@t in a white van. Needed a new wheel, tyre and suspension leg etc but no airbags went off.

Had a 51 plate Mini One and now a 05 plate Cooper S, both of which have seen my wife kindly knocking kerbs. So far nothing has gone off. (Apart from my temper mad)

For the airbag to go off you need a substantial impact-how much of a bang was it-if it was a case the vehicle was moving at 5mph and had a violent stop-ie the same movement you would get if you hit a wall, the the accelaration sensors will accept that as an impact.
If it was just a nudge then there is a flaw there and you would need to contact a dealer.
I would suspect its the first or the vehicles in question have had some kind of repairs-body or electical.
I have yet to come accross an airbag thats deployed randomly(not since E36 3 series)
