Female friend of mine just bought an 03 Mini One and changed over her current insurance policy. They asked the usual details and she told them it's a Mini One and 1600cc etc etc.All was fine and she paid £100 extra from her POS Fiesta rust bug. Today they called and said she told them she had a 1600 when she infact has a 1600i and that's going to cost extra. I said there is only Mini One and Coopers and sevral limited editions and the like. All Mini One's are 1600 cc and injection from what I know, so what's the difference ? Anyone had similar hassle ?

Thanks

they're talking nonsense. she may have to pay extra if it's got one of the packs like 'salt' (if you can get ones with those) but there is one engine and one engine only. the oned is a 1.4 so it's not as if they could have got it mixed up with that...

All sorted now.Friend called as said they had correctly stated the car was a Mini One with a 1600cc engine, and if they didn't like it, they would take their business elsewhere.
Interestingly, if you use online insurance quote forms such as the one on the autotrader site, you get the choice of 2door and 3 door hatch. If you flick between the two it gives you a choice of 1600, 1600i and 1.4 TD. Weird.

the 2 door makes refercance to the cooper and S 'club sport' models which is a road leagal race preperd package that was carried out by cooper grages for the mini challange race series the proper bore is 1589 cc i think but the packs in oderof cost and parts salt, peaper and chili dont affect insurance so much because 90% of minis have them it may as well be standard if you know what i mean
