Re-Map Insurance?

Hi,

Has anyone re-mapped their mini engine?? If so, did you inform your insurance company and what did it cost?

I guess the majority will answer no, the remap is undetectable. Most remap companies make a copy of your current spec to revert to if needed.
The insurance premiums will no doubt rocket especially if you have a Mini one which can be remapped from 90 to around 138bhp - over a 50% increase in power

We did advise for my Daughters. it was plus £200 pa for the Bluefin

theres a few diff roure to go if you have a mini one then get a bluefin but id get a lohen bluefin its no more expesive but loehn developed a custom map with superchips or if you have a modded cooper or S an mth mapp in very good but - blue fin will not work on a jcw cooper or S as it needs to sense the standard mapp !! but insurance wise it all depsneds on who your with my company whanted 500 quid more cos it would have booseted my cooper by 15 bhp but if your looking at modding your mini a bit aid suggest switching to adrian flux or green light as most folk in my club are with them cos there cars are heavily modded

A mate had a MINI One and he bought an AMD OneClick thingy. A small black box that plugged into the com port (underneath the steering wheel IIRC) and altered the ECU. It was completely switchable and added around 40BHP I think, made plenty of difference. The box was £400 about three years ago, but I'm not sure how much they are now.
