i have noticed a few people saying first service at way lower miles than my service indicator says (it's on 9800 and it says another 1600 to service). now a lot of our mileage is motorway mileage and normal day to day it'sthe missus pootling. and the oil has been kept topped up... and i ran it in carefully... so it's all very plausible that our first service should be a while way off... but at the same time at what point do you start to dibelieve the indicator?!

also having never had a car with A) 'flexible' service periods B) a TLC type arrangement at what point do i leave it on the indicator - service due in 10 miles or service due in 100 miles..? i don't especially mind paying a nominal fee for a courtesy car as we only run one car but does any one know the score..?

the exhaust is getting some full-on overrun popping action now after my trip to see my old man in northwales. ahem! i am sure half of the catalyst material is in the back box...

If it's got more than 1000 miles to go then BMW won't touch it...

However, I took mine for the roof to be fixed and it's first service a while back... they fixed the roof but didn't do the service because they said it wasn't within the 1000 mile limit... indicator was showing 250 miles, so had to take it back later in the week because someone had misread it

I've got something like 25k on my clock and the service indicator is saying I don't need one for another 4k. Seems extraordinary. I know my brakes need changing, I wonder how many people would still keep going for the 4k on shot brakes.

Time wise about 2 years and 2months, mileage I can't remember exactly but something like 10-12k.
I'm hard on my brakes and the clutch is not in a great condition either beacuse I have to slip the clutch every time I set off in first due to a big dip in power when you're on the bite.

I thought that the service intervals were either when the indicator thingy shows less than 1000 miles until service, or every two years?

I just purchased a 2nd hand cooper s and rang the garage about the tlc pack. They said that 2nd service should be done either after 25k miles or 2 years (as the brake fluid needs to be changed).

Now that makes so much more sense.

May try and book it in this week. I've got a long trip this summer and I'm not very happy to have a car not looked at for so long
