Never underestimate the effects of worn tyres & brakes! Our Cooper S had been feeling a little tired recently due to worn tyres all round, one which had an unbalanced puncture repair and prob not quite the correct pressures all round. Compound this with tired brakes and sticking rear calipers and you have a car that is driving nowhere near its best.
So its been with BMW for a while having service, new discs & pads all round, new fluid, new rear calipers, wheel refurb, full set of p-zero's all round fitted and balanced on Saturday for £440 (which sounds tidy to me) and the car is transformed night and day. I'd forgot just how much fun to drive this car is - first corner I pointed it at it dived for the apex so alert was the turn in, the rear playfully adjustable and always willing to helpfully swing the nose into a corner. There's one particular left hander near me - middle of nowhere, fast approach, wide entry with a big 'yump' right on the apex - I attacked with zeal last night; turn in fast trail braking into the apex to get the back end mobile and gas it as soon as you're over the yump, 4 wheel drift to the centre line - bl00dy brilliant fun! Not really sure about selling this car, not convinced its replacement (Z4Coupe 3.0) will be any more fun to drive....

440 sounds bloody cheap for all that, is that with labour too?

Ive only had mine a few weeks and already cracked up loads of miles just swinging around country lanes its such a hoot to drive, even in the wet it installs huge amounts of confidence. So glad I didn't go for the c class coupe which was the other car I narrowed my choice down to.

Perhaps should clarify - 440 was just the tyres, but even then 4xpzero's in 205/45/17 fitted and balanced seems decent. Rest was warranty/tlc pads cost very little - all good!

Trackdemon,
I must admit the mini (non-S) we've got it much better fun than the old Type-R we had. Much more adjustable etc.
Did you put it in for the service before the computer told you to?
Mines definitley feeling tired and yet the computer insists I've got 5k to go.
