I just had the inspection 1 service on my Cooper S and everything was fine (TLC pack!) except the dealer wanted £255 for front pads and discs. I think this is a bit steep isn't it?

What pads and discs would you recommend? Does anyone know of a good fitter around the Barnet, Herts area?

Your help would be appreciated.

They are easy to do yourself, whats a TLC Pack? I take it you have 10in wheels?

That price is well OTT.

Have a look on www.mini2.com but Mintex or EBC seem to be a cost effective way to better brakes. Any mechanic should be able to fit them.

Oh sorry, didnt know it was a MINI, thought it was the orignal item, and not a cheap copy!

Sorry, only just read this. I'd be surprised if you really do need new discs already, I replaced the front pads on ours with EBC upgraded items @ 20k. Pretty easy job, happy to demonstrate how to do it if you want.

Yeah, I paid £230 for my set of cooper S brakes (1966!) I felt that was a fair price.

Half the attraction of a mini is that it is the worlds most well supported car for performance parts, you can get everything from a rollcage to a 6 speed dogbox. The MINI on the other hand is an expensive modern car. I do love them for their secondhand but new superchargers

Thanks TrackDemon for your kind offer. I'm gonna wait til the warning light comes on then, i'll drop you an e mail if you don't mind?

I put EBC pads on to my 330ci - can't say I noticed much difference although they did squeak a lot. Do you find that as well?
