So my wife has been ooking at a few things and then decided on this as a milestone treat.

Mini cooper s pack 3, picking it up on sunday so should be interesting to see what its like....

I collected our new S today and only just discovered that the navigation is pretty useless. No camera locations.

It has Android AUTO so you have to revert to using that for WAZE or MAPS. Pathetic!

The AI assistant does not seem to know how to do much quickly either.

I believe it does if you pay for the connected navigation package

I paid for the £100 electronic upgrade. It’s still not great. On a drive yesterday it recognised the location of one on the motorway but completely missed one on an A road, just after a change in limit. On the Motorway, I noticed the message in the HUD, but if there was a sound, it was too quiet, same level as the annoying bing-bing if you dare set the cruise control 1mph over the limit. It also showed roadworks and associated queues that were clearly historic, rather than current.

The interior ambient lighting does not work and the forward detectors only seem to activate when you stop, it then shows you have just entered the red zone. I have a big issue pulling into a roundabout. In my manual F66, I kept my foot on the clutch and right foot on the brake, so no stop start. With the new car I pull up to the giveaway line engine stops and parking brake is applied. A gap appears, I press the accelerator, and it has a think, starts the engine, releases the parking brake and eventually moves forward giving both me and the next guy coming round the roundabout a bit of a fright.

The car is booked for a check over a week tomorrow, but so far, I am unimpressed with it. It is my first owned Auto, but others that I have driven have not shown this sort of thing, even a pretty new Corsa hire car in July.

The car seems to epitomise nanny state thinking. It has ceased to be a great fun car. It has Hankook tyres and they seem to make a lot of NVH.

My wife was locked in the car with the alarm going. I had the SMART key in my pocket and returned to the restaurant where I had left my phone, she could neither get out or stop the alarm. We are unable to make her iPhone SE a second electronic key. Wasted a full 90mins trying and even Google AI cannot find an answer.

For the first time ever, I am sick of this dumb smart car. I have asked to return it under distance selling regs and Consumer rights Act 2015.
