Mini R56 Sump Question

Mrs P's 2013 mini one D R56 has had a whack on the alloy sump and the resulting small wound is seeping a tiny amount of oil. It's not a crack, more a bruise.

I've tried sealing the leak with some liquid metal repair paste, but if that doesn't work, my question is.... Is the (expensive!) alloy sump interchangeable with an (affordable!) steel one?

I suspect not...

The sump is going to have to come off regardless of you fitting an alloy or cheaper steel one, so is there anyone who would be willing to weld the sump for say £50? Then all you is a hammer to straighten it, some gasket sealant and fresh oil.

Used sumps seem to be £149 on eBay.
