My missus has a 2018 JCW with 30k miles and the Aisin 8 speed auto. The box is fine on the move but at times its proving impossible to start off smoothly with the car behaving like a demented jack in the box - it can also be jerky when coming to a halt. It reminds me of the DCT in my old F10 M5 but this is worse.
Is this a case of "they all do that sir" or is this buggered - its under warranty so it could be taken care of if it is faulty. Any on here have this box with a JCW and have similar issues? BTW it always starts in the Mid setting on the throttle map etc.
Thanks Keith

That's not normal so I would get it checked out under warranty asap as it could be a very expensive fix.

I had a Clubman SD with the 8 speed auto .
It failed and was replaced under warranty when the car was just within its 3 year warranty.
It was very jerky at low revs and when manouvering which then developed to it hanging onto gears and not changing up before finally going into limp mode .
This happened at around 42k miles .

The Aisin box is the same that my lad had in his M135i, it's not great but shouldn't be that bad?

The gearbox was one of the reasons why I went for the Cooper S auto over the JCW, the 7 speed box is much better than the 8.

You can tune the gearbox to make it more user friendly IIRC.

Get yourself over to the F56 FB group or minif56 forum and ask the question, there's a wealth of knowledge on there and they'll help you out.
