68 reg cooper s - transmission oil service/drivetrain check?
Discussion
As fate would have it, I was on the way to the Mini dealer (Bowker Preston) on Wednesday, car was booked in for its 6 year service, and 2 warnings flagged up as above - transmission oil service/drivetrain check.
Car is a Clubman and done 34k miles, problem cured by changing gearbox oil which cost just under £200. A bit of googling shows that it may not just be coincidence that at 6 years old everyone is getting this warning flag up, regardless of mileage.
Anybody else had this, seems like the latest wheeze for BMW to wring out some more cash....
Interesting!
I had an auto transmission replaced under warranty on a 2018 Clubman Cooper SD at 45k miles and just before the 3 year manufactures warranty expired.
It suffered from clunky shifts and was holding on to low gears /not changing up and went into limp mode.
Tech said at the time he thought shift actuators probably sticking . One thought was that these boxes should have more frequent oil changes .
I wonder if this is now done as preventative maintenance and if other has similar issues?

Yes tk my 6year old coper S to Statstones already knew about gearbox oil change s added t service. Car only donw 17kmiles with full mini service history but no warranty.
Almost jokingly said when went to pick car up did it need any work doing. Yes £500+ leak on sump gasket(bout £280) and blocked windscreen nozzle. (about £220).
Was thinking of selling at the time- no iol on sump cover but blocked washer would be an MOT fail
With 3 services under its belt asked about goodwill from Mini- first answer no when pressed its manufacturing or fitting fault gasket no suitable for purpose that it leaks after 17k miles. They relented and paid in full. New washer jet bought(£41!!!) and fitted myself.
So if you're buying an auto mini more than 6 years old make sure its had il change.
Experience really put me off MINI brand at time but car just seems to be getting better all the time.
In my opinion a good idea saves all the queries later on in life should my BMW auto gearbox be services BMW say no Manufacturer says yes.
