Wondering if anyone else has experienced the problems we’ve had with our Mini over the last few months. Firstly one ofthe remotes decided to stop working completely after being a bit temperamental for a while. Tried changing the battery for it a few times to no avail. The spare remote has been working but now it too has given up and so the only way to lock and re-enter the car is via the metal key which is not ideal.

I’m guessing we most likely need to new keys from BMW but is there a way of checking things like the antenna in the car and / or the module panel which I think is also something that could have gone wrong? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Mu Bmw indy has a key reader attached to column, press key and checks on signal strength. Accurately showed week signal but spare ok. Not simple to replace key in BMW key but less than a £10 by a recommended BMW repairer.
With both keys not working suspect its module in car . Try finding a garage who has key signal reader and maybe put a new CR2032 battery in key. Not going to be cheap but neither are keys if mini keys cost similar to BMW keys

Thanks. Have ordered a key fob tester so will see what that says and take it from there.
