I always liked the “new” mini.
I felt like they captured the essence in an updated package.

Gradually it’s stepped away from that brief and just seen this…
I mean, what are they thinking. Looks like a generic stbox from A.N. other manufacturer.
Identity in the toilet.

They have been getting steadily worse for a while, I am pretty sure its not even as bad as it can get yet.

Looks like a, knock off, of a knock off, of what they think an EV mini would look like; in fact l think it looks like a Sqini; all the cute roundness has gone.

As SUVs go it's better looking than some and would be on my list to check out if I was in the market for that type of vehicle.

To be fair, that is the Countryman which has always been something only a mother could love. But they haven't exactly improved the smaller cars either.

We had a new Cooper S as a courtesy car while the o/h’s F56 Cooper S was in for some work. They’ve removed all that was good about the old car. The character twin exhausts are no more, instead a non-visible pipe exits under the car with zero noise appeal. Interior has been dumbed down and cost reduced. No separate controls for the screen, only touch control which isn’t great while moving. O/h was glad to get hers back.

I think noise has all but disappeared from most cars of late due to legislation.

From the start the Countryman's never been the looker of the range, especially in some of the more basic specs/trims, but still not as bad as the Paceman... once you get the 'dog hunched taking a dump' from the side view you can't get away from it biggrin

We came in behind a new Electric one this morning, and to be fair I quite like it. One of my sons mates is a Salesman at MINI, and I bumped into him this week in a new Cooper. Again I liked it.

I've got previous, I had an F56 Cooper from new in 2014, one of the early adopters, and they had plenty haters in their time. Then got an R55 JCW, the car I actually went in looking for when I bought the F56. Hoping to get back into an F56 next year.

I went for a look at both new Mini Coopers a week or so back to compare to my F57.

The petrol F66 felt nice and solid, with good ergonomics, but the interior had less of a premium feel to it than my car. I can see what they were aiming for with the large screen and minimalist design as a throwback to the original, but it just didn’t work for me and would have been better suited to a Dacia-style value model.

The electric version appeared similar at a glance but was noticeably less sturdy when you closed the doors.

I expect I’ll be looking for one of the last F57 JCWs when I come to change.

When you see them parked up, they look enormous. I think the ‘MINI look’ is fine on smaller versions, it just doesn’t translate well onto larger versions - even though they seem to be trying to morph away from that look.
