Hello,

I have a mini 2021 plate face lift JCW and the sound coming from the exhaust is non existent 😩. I have myself booked in to Ecotune to have a miltek exhaust non resonating fitted in a week (the one that will pass its MOT & Service).

Iv struggled to find an example of what it will sound like and my concern is that it won’t sound much different to the stock exhaust I have now.

Can anyone put my mind at rest and tell me that it sounds good and I’ll be popping and banging along the road hahah.

Thanks all

Unfortunately, from late 2018 onwards the JCW (both LCI and LCI2) comes fitted with a GPF which really strangles the exhaust sound. This is a problem on pretty much all modern cars and not just the Mini JCW. Fitting a Milltek will definitely improve the exhaust note, but it will still be muffled by the GPF (assuming you are leaving that fitted, as it's a legal / mot requirement).

The pops and bangs you mentioned are a separate challenge as these are (mostly) a product of the engine map, which again changed on the later cars to meet strict EU directives. I don't think your new exhaust will give you much in the way of pops and bangs, certainly nothing like the earlier JCW's came with out of the factory. I believe there are aftermarket maps now available for the LCI2 JCW that give you pops & bangs, but I don't have any personal experience of them.

Sorry it's not better news, but hope it helps.
