Extended warranty worth it? JCW Clubby - 2021
Discussion
Looking for some advice...
My JCW Clubby turns 3 this month, and I've had the 'extend your warranty' letter though. I've owned it for a couple of years now, and have made one warranty claim (back in March a valve on the turbo failed). I've never taken out an extended warranty on a car before, but this is the first one where the warranty saved me about £1k fixing the fault, so now I'm concerned something else might go...
What would you do!? Are there any common, known warranty covered faults out there on this type of car?

There's no real common issues but as you've experienced repairs can get expensive. We sold ours at 3 years old and 20k miles, only warranty claim was replacing the bonnet stripes.
Only you can answer if it's worth it, for peace of mind yes it's worth it. If you never claim then no it's not. One of the reasons I like to buy new cars is they have the security of warranty.

How much is the extended warranty for say fully comp with a £100 excess?
Mine for a 2017 JCW hatch works out at £475 on that basis without assistance.
I think it's excellent value as despite the low 26k mileage, my car is 7 years old.
Bear in mind that if you don't take the warranty and want to reinstate later in the life of the car it will be far more expensive.
The cost of the warranty would be a small fraction of the cost to change to a new car.
