Hi all,

I recently bought a MINI for my son - initial stages of ownership have not been entirely smooth in spite of it seeming like a well-
looked after car. Rear bushes needed doing almost straight away and now the alternator has failed.
My local garage have bad experiences fitting after-market alternators to theses cars with frequent failures not long after fitting and suggested I look for an OEM alternator and get them to fit it as it would likely be cheaper than them ordering from a MINI dealer.

I'm struggling to find one - can anyone help?

Edited to say: 1.6 Petrol

There should be a local place that refurbs alternators. Not sure why a quality non OEM one would fail so quickly.

Thanks chaps. Any recommendations for a decent non-OEM alternator manufacturer?

I would imagine a Bosch or Lucas would be decent quality.

Bosch or Valeo, Lucas isn’t what it once was. We have had the occasional duff Bosch one too. I would not be putting a genuine one on. Plenty of Mini breakers out there too, or try neo brothers.
