Family member has a 2015 Mini Cooper, the drivers side upper brake light isn’t working. There are two banana shaped lights below and above the central light, the lower two are working, and they all light up when the lights are on, it’s just that the two upper ones don’t light up when the brake pedal is applied.

All other brake lights including the third one at the top of the rear screen are working OK.

It can’t be the bulb as it lights up when you put the lights on, and it can’t be the bulb holder either for this reason logically, it seems like the message when you depress the brake light isn’t getting there for want of a better way of putting it.

Any thoughts at all please, thanks in advance.

Possible the led brake light has failed I'm assuming the banana description means you have LED headlights and the partial LED taillights these https://www.minif56.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,...

Thanks for the reply appreciated.

It doesn’t have front LED/HID’s etc for sure.

Not the clearest pic but you should see what I mean.

If the tail lights are LED, ignore this but if they are incandescent bulbs then they will be twin filament bulbs and it's possible for the brake light filament (21W) to have failed and for the tail light filament (5W) to still be working. It just case of replacing the bulb.

Many thanks for that, that does sound like the case, I think my much older cars aren’t quite as high tech!

Appreciated.
