Picked up a lovely black JCW today, with 4k miles, from midlands. Host of JCW visuals, and on JCW lower springs, from the dealer. Great ride back to London. Not seeng, or feeling any of the negatives I seen written.

If I wished one thing, it's that there was some pops and bangs.......

Nice one. I did similar but went F56 Cooper S to the F82 M4. My Cooper S had the pops and bangs on it because it was a 2017 model. But sadly there isn't any drama to the noise in the M4 though because it has the fun sponge OPFs on it(Dec 2018 model).

You will enjoy the JCW for sure I reckon. driving

I had the F82 M4. I would have kept it, but some scrote smashed the driver window and nicked the steering wheel. £5k damage. It comes back all spick and span like new, but no fix for the ease of which they can steal the steering wheel. So it had to go. I had an original M2 which sounded 'amazing' when the sport button was pressed. I agree the M4 is like pretty much silent. But if you program the M1 or M2 button with everything on maximum, there is a bit fo drama with the noise.

No plans for the JCW. Just to fly under the radar a bit.

I've heard about that steering wheel problem. frown

Noise wise with the M4 my eldest daughter says that it doesn't sound too bad from the outside when the exhaust valves are open to be fair. But when you're sat behind the wheel you can't hear the exhaust though. If I keep it long term I would like to make it a bit more vocal really(although I have a really loud 370Z so it isn't the end of the world with the M4 being so quiet in fairness).

I genuinely enjoyed every drive I had in the Cooper S and I loved my 3.5 years in it. I definitely think you'll enjoy the JCW too. smile

Yeah it's weird - my M2 you could hear every pop and bang from inside. But the M4, very quiet. And even with those valves open, you needed the windows open to hear them properly. I kind of put it down to being closer to the exhausts in the M2, rightly or wrongly, with the difference in the size of the car.

I've got a 3 yr warranty with the JCW, so getting work done to get some drama from the exhaust isnt on the cards without voiding the warranty. I'll settle for under the radar....... for now!

I went from an M2C into a Cooper S and haven't looked back. I have changed the exhaust GPF back to add a little more sound. Gives it a little more drama. No pops and bangs though. I think they are gone, unless it gets mapped.
