My wife has a 2016 Countryman Cooper SD that has blown the engine because of oil starvation, both the AA and the garage that it is currently at say that it is properly knackered.

Yes, a lesson learned to check the oil more often smile

I filled in a form on a website to get a price for a recon engine and have ended up getting a load of messages from companies around the country saying "£3k for an engine mate with a 6 mth warranty".

The garage that we have used for the past 7 years, a BMW & Mini indie, won't put a recon engine in it as they don't know the history of it but they will either fit a brand new engine from BMW for £10k or fully re-build this engine and fit a new clutch and flywheel for around £5k.

I'm leaning towards our known garage I have no idea what is a good price or who to use.

Has anybody been in a similar situation, know what we should be paying or have any recommendations for a garage, I'm in Nottingham.

Thanks

If the 5k includes turbo, complete clutch kit and all gaskets drive in drive out its not that bad to be honest.
