Hi, new member here looking for some advice if possible. We are looking for a newish 4x4 suv to replace our audi allroad. The wife has had a mini one convertible since 2007 and loves it so persuaded me to look at the countryman.

Searching the used adds I went to my local mini dealer to view a 2018 black cooper s countryman all4 hybrid. Asking the sales girl how the AWD system worked she went off to ask the question.
Apparently the electric motor drives the rear axel and the petrol the front but nobody seemed very knowledgeable.

My question is if I run out of electricity will I still have the ability to be 4x4 as it will be only running on petrol? Also if this is the case is there a way to force the car to run petrol only so I could save the electric for when 4 wheel drive is needed.

I live deep in the dales and through the winter there is a lot of times 4 wheel drive is needed just to get about.

Thanks in advance.

My partner drive a 67 plate for school run

the battery will never go down to 0, it will reserve some energy (around 5% on ours) then start the engine, and keep it for "on demand". We never drive in deep snow though.

There are 3 hybrid modes, Battery only, hybrid (balance) and Keep battery. last mode will force the car run on engine and keep the battery charged
