I have a R53 Cooper S fitted with zenon lights and headlight washers.
The washer units raise as they should but do not squirt water.
My dealer says that the obvious cause is 'gunge' in the washer bottle which is blocking the nozzles.
He has suggested the cure is to remove the washer bottle, clean it and flush the system. The bottle is behind the front wheel arch so the
road wheel will need to be taken off and the plastic wheel arch liner removed to get at the bottle.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there an easier solution.
I read somewhere that pouring a cup full of bleach into the container might dissolve the 'gunge'.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's usually the water itself that operators the washer jet so if there popping out it's more likely the jets are blocked and not the bottle/pump side. Can you disconnect the washers and blow compressed air through them.

Wife had the same problem with a water bottle that smelt like bad egg gas, windscreen jets were hit and miss.

I used Milton which is not as harsh as bleach put some in the washer bottle and then drained completely via front and rear washer jets.

Done this 3 times and all debris and the smell has gone.

The dealer wanted £90 to remove and clean the washer bottle as the wheel and surrounding liner has to be removed to access the washer bottle and there is a filter at the bottom of the washer bottle that can also clog up.
