Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2011 JCW and I'm in the process of importing it into Ireland. Unfortunately, since Brexit, we now have to clear cars with customs, and I'm having some trouble. I've sent all the required information to my customs broker (V5, proof of purchase, etc.), and provided a breakdown of the VIN from bimmerworks. However, customs is requesting proof of the car's origin (my broker has said they're looking for where the car was manufactured) on BMW/MINI headed paper, and they're saying that the breakdown from bimmerworks isn't acceptable.

I've already requested a certificate of conformity from BMW, but when I contacted them this morning to see if they can email me anything on headed paper confirming where the car was manufactured, they told me the COC can take up to 3 months to arrive. I've also contacted the supplying dealer of the car but they told me to contact MINI directly. I'm in a bit of a bind as the car is in Ireland now and if it's not registered by the beginning of June, I start to accrue a fine due to our VRT process.

EDIT: I've contacted my broker again and they've advised that if the car was manufactured in the UK, I don't have to pay the import duty which is €900odd euro which is a nice chunk of change to not have to pay out, which makes me want (need) this information more. They've also said an AIR report on the VIN should also be enough, but I've never heard of this. Has anyone else heard of this, or have access to get one by any chance?

I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone here works for BMW/MINI and can assist.

Appreciate any assistance.

If you were to post your VIN up, and allow your profile to accept emails, then someone out there might be able to help you.

If only it was that easy! It had been throwing a P2885 code and now is throwing a P115D code with an audible leak and wet sneeze like sound when letting off the throttle. Have changed the diverter valve & fitted a GFB+ and checked intake pipes from above (and the intercooler hoses under the bumper) and all seems secure. Want to try get it sorted before my appointment on Saturday to get it registered
