Hi all - Bad start to Saturday!

Earlier in the week my gf said the fob for our F56 SD wasn’t working. I replaced the batt in the fob and it still didn’t work.

Tried to the spare and it worked (when very close to the car).

This morning, tried to head out and neither fob was opening the car.

Stupidly the manual key, cue alarm going off, lots of swearing and apologising to neighbours.

Tried to get the car to recognise the fob by putting it up to the steering column with no success. In fact, hitting the start button did nothing at all. Central console didn’t turn on or anything.

Popped the bonnet, alarm stopped after a while, then I disconnected the battery and it started again!

reconnected the battery and alarm eventually stopped.

left it alone for now.

Anyone experienced anything similar or know what could be the problem?

Thank you!

Not really that clued up on electrical parts but my first thought would be the car’s battery/how old is it?

Regardless of how old it is, get it checked out, should be around 12.6 volts, every 0.1 volt under this is a loss of around 15 - 20% charge.
