Just bought a new CooperS but only satnav is via CarPlay, can’t get good phone reception locally and others share the car without phone, so how can I load basic car satnav? Dealer says should of been ordered as option but wasn’t offered, they suggested I buy TomTom!! Anyone know if the software can be uploaded? Thanks

You can use off line Google Maps. I got a little magnetic phone holder on the dashboard and the screen is actually in a better position than the OE screen.

OP I would have that when driiving 'locally' you wouldn't need sat nav?

Perhaps when going further afield you'll get as signal and all will become on the excellent new mini sat nav.

You’re missing my point. I need a satnav in the car which is not singularly reliant on my apple phone, signal, data availability, other drivers etc. Both my old mini’s could do that. Having been misadvised on buying the new one I now need to remedy or sell. Best option is a simple software upload I’m fairly sure, but dealer says impossible, hmm, great customer service and actually not believable. Buy a TomTom, really? Don’t buy a mini maybe.

OK. So you want a built in Sat Nav, come what may. You don't want to use your phone (nor want anyone else driving the car to use their phone) even if it isn't reliant on signal or data (Google Maps isn't as the off line mode will take over if out of range if you download the map which takes 30 seconds which you only have to do once).

You have assumed that your new MINI would have built in satnav as your previous MINIs had it as their original buyers specified it and paid for it.

As it is such a crucial requirement, did the sales staff tell you it would have it?

What did the price list or the std spec sheet or the options list say?

I am not sure you have been misadvised.

If they could retrofit then why would they tell you they can't?

In other words what you are saying is buyer didn't do due diligence and now has buyer remorse, so needs someone to blame.

Sounds about right to me.

Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that something that you find to be so critical you didn't ask about when the process of being separated from MANY thousands of pounds was going on.

The majority of new cars now have apple android car play - built in sat navs are old news and went out of date quickly. Most people even if have built in nav use their phones Nav - far better, up to date and more reliable.

Cant see what your issue is really?
