We've been looking at Minis

This one we drove and it sounded quite rorty.

Are there different exhausts on these or is there another explanation?

It will be the OPFs(petrol particulate filters) on the newer 2019 car that will make it sound quieter. The 2018 model that you have listed doesn't have the OPFs on it.

The OPFs became mandatory on all petrol cars from around August 2018 I believe. I have a December 2018 M4 that has the OPFs on it.

2018 is a strange year for the F56 as it's when the phase introduction of the LCi was released. Both those cars are LCi.

Not sure on the 1.5 but my March 2018 JCW is an LCi with the 8 speed auto but no PPF or union jack rear lights, sounds great compared to our 2020 JCW.
