Hi, I want to put an F56 hatch on a trickle charger using a CTek 5.0. I want to use the eyelets and attach to the battery and then the comfort fitting to connect and disconnect when needed. Does anyone know what size eyelets I need?

You'll want to connect the trickle charger to the jump terminals under the bonnet not directly to the car battery.

I believe you can connect straight to the battery using the eyelets they supply and position them permanently below the battery connectors?

That's exactly what I have done. The eyelets that came with my C-TEK charger were the correct size. On other cars I connected the clamps but on the Mini I could not shut the bonnet with the clamps so fitted the eyelets.

Connecting directly to the battery can mess with the cars IBS Intelligent Battery Sensor which monitors battery condition.
Have a look around any BMW/Mini dealer, showroom cars are always connected to the terminals under the bonnet.

Yes, usually only on cars with stop/start. You can connect the positive to the battery, but the negative to an engine or body earth.

I have four cars here with IBS on them and the batteries are routinely charged direct to the battery on CTEK's which have zero effect on anything

So I’ve gone for using the clamps with red to the battery and black to the earth. But I’d like to use the eyelets and comfort charge and leave it permanently attached. Does it use M10 eyelets and to access the battery do you just lift the screws on the cover? Also will there be any issues with disconnecting the battery even momentarily?
