Hi all iv recently purchased a mini r52s and I'm wondering what kev pulley to fit is there much difference between 17% or 19% pulley asking as I like track days but need it to be able to use as daily driver but I want to change cam . Could anyone tell me if the Newman cams worth a punt or should I go for a more expensive one thanks

I am led to believe anything above 17% is getting very close to overspeeding the 'charger.

Anything more than 17% is definitely counter productive on track days as the intercooler will be overheating resulting in clipping power back over a certain IAT.

Thus you would need a better intercooler & the "alleged" upgrade ones on ebay etc don't actually help much as they are "bar & plate" rather than "tube & fin". "Tube & fin" shed heat much quicker than "bar & plate" intercoolers.

I have never been a fan of the bolt on pulleys & as you are likely to need to pull the supercharger off and service it at the same time I would go for the interference fit type, especially as the screw on type can fail shedding belts & damaging the nose of the shaft.

Newman phase1/2 cams are very well worth the little over £200 & are very easy to do DIY, they give much better breathing above 4000 rpm as the cam in the supercharges S is exactly the same as in the lowly mini one.

If you are seriously thinking of camming the car you would be best to take the car off the road and get all done together including fitting the larger injectors & getting it mapped, you would likely see around 230 bhp & it will drive like a rocket.

Suspension & brake upgrades will give you a fantastic Track day tool, that is what I did to mine that I recently sold.
