My girlfriend has got a Mini Cooper S on order, and has just had a call from the dealer saying that they are no longer in production. The alternative is the Exclusive.

Has anyone else heard this?

EDIT: False alarm, it's apparently the Sport trim that's been discontinued. Bloody woman

I read somewhere they were only producing automatics now so if she's ordered a manual it might be worth checking with the dealer.

They still make the Cooper S. They have changed slightly in that you choose a Cooper or Cooper S as the base car, and then you choose which version.

Which model has she chosen? 3dr / 5dr / Clubman / Countryman?

They've dropped manual gearboxes from the Cooper S?

She had on order a Cooper S sport 5 door hatch. She's now been the Executive trim in a bit of a better spec. She quite likes it, though not as much on the styling front. She's still going to go ahead with the order (which has been pushed back to October from June) and we'll keep an eye on the nearly-new market in the meantime.

Mini have also completely dropped the digital dash for now, just can't get the parts/manufacturing. She hadn't put this on her original order, but had been told she might get it anyway. That's now out of the question.

It looks to be that the Sport version has disappeared. Only the classic, the exclusive and the resolute remain. All of which are styled differently from the Sport. The way it's going the LCI2 sport in manual will be a very rare beast.

It’s a shame they have had to drop the digital dash. My sister has a new mini convertible and the digital dash looks very good.

And in my view the most desirable of 2021 facelift models.

Exactly my thought. Seems a strange one in the line up to drop. Who knows perhaps it will come back in a different guise shortly.

Was the sport spec essential the JCW type exterior body kit and the excellent seats?

I have a facelift 2021 Cooper S Sport (Auto) with lots of optional extras and the seemingly rare digital speedo. Made some enquiries with a local dealer and they bid nearly £7k over what WBAC/Cazoo online prices are. Very tempted to take it, though I just cannot see anything obvious to replace it that is as new, but as fun and sprightly to drive.

I've just bought a similar car, 2021 Cooper Sport auto, panoramic sunroof, nav, comfort pack. Looks like it's quite rare, and like you I considered whether there was anything else that could compete. There wasn't, so although it was expensive I'm delighted with it and think it will hold its value.

Can anyone shed some light for me on when exactly this model came out? I'm looking on Autotrader and if I search for 2022 onwards Cooper S Sport, none of them have what I call the "sporty bumper". Yet some 2021 models do. I can't figure this out at all. She was going to get one that looked like this:

But that's 2021 - all the 2022 models look like this:

And this was a new order.

I am pretty sure the top one is pre LCI2 sport trim with piano black trim option, and bottom one is LCI2 sport trim
I believe in LCI2 both classic and executive have the same bumber, which is different from the sport in your photo

The top one is the ‘old shape’ and the bottom is the facelifted (LCI2) version. I think they started getting delivered around March 2021, so 2021 has some crossover depending o when old style may have been registered.

It is specifically the Sport trim level that had the JCW front (and big diffuser rear valance), except black line across the middle rather than the red on the actual JCW cars. The other trim levels had a different front. You do have to look at the photos of a 2021 car to see what it is, rather than just the description.

Maybe I was misunderstanding when she ordered then, or maybe the configurator was showing the wrong images. But if what she would have been getting is the lower picture, then the Executive or Exclusive or whatever the hell she is getting doesn't look all that different. She's sorted it herself so I'm a bit in the dark. She was definitely going to be getting the larger centre screen, but I thought she was getting the Works-esque body kit. Maybe not.
