I've had my JCW R53 for about 5 to 6 years and has been a fun run around. It is not perfect, but is still a nice car for just under 90k miles.

How much time and money do I spend getting it ready to sell or do I just sell it as it is?
For example, should I get it valeted inside and out, maybe even get it treated to take out any scratches, restore the black plastic bodywork, touch up the alloys etc etc.

Or should I just let people see it warts and all?

thanks

I'm struggling to grasp the thought process behind not cleaning a car you're trying to sell laugh

Nobody in their right mind would sell a car "warts & all" unless they want to either turn buyers away or sell it for less than its worth.

A minimum would be a full valet, they aren't as expensive as you think & will likely add much more to the price than they cost to do, even if you don't make the money back you will sell the car much quicker.

haha - the car is always kept clean. Was more meaning getting it professionally done.
Thank you E-BMW.

What about the matts, they are a bit old and past it, would you spend the money on a cheap set of matts?

Bottom end for a tidy R53 JCW seems to be around £4k+ these days regardless of whether its a pre-facelift or not. Depending on the age of the car and whether its got stuff like the JCW carbon dash, gearknob etc, its probably worth spending £20 on some Gtechniq C4 to sort the black plastics out and maybe a couple of hundred quid on a wheel refurb. Certainly don't think you'd lose out on stuff like that... becoming very collectable cars.

The "100K service" is a mythical beast.

Officially a 100k service is pretty much a normal service + plugs & Oxygen sensors.

The 100k service referred to in Wheeler Dealers doesn't exist, there is certainly no service item for the Supercharger, it is considered sealed for life by BMW/Mini.

I did look up the 100k service and the only additional things they were calling out were the oxygen filter and spark plugs.
Suppose it is a comfort thing about buying a high miler.

Thats what i thought id be much more likely to buy a 100k car that had just been fully serviced mot'd and valeted.

Hi there, my R58 JCW is in the classifieds and prepped to perfection (though that is how it would always be kept). When I'm buying a car, that's what I would expect.

Spend a day doing what you can to clean it up as it can only help your chances of a sale. Spending large amounts that you won't get back would however not be worth your while. Good luck with the sale thumbup

I'm not sure if changing the supercharger oil by 100k is official BMW advice (like they would care anyway when the car is this far out of warranty) but given the state of the oil, or potentially the lack of it, as discussed in this youtubers video I'd want it done (skip to 7 mins in for the relevant bit) :
