Hi all, purchased a15 plate Mini One for our daughter a few months back. The chrome (or chrome effect?) single exhaust tip is totally blackened and several attempts to clean it up with metal polish have failed.
I reckon it's best to replace it and I can see that replacements are available online from fleabay and others. We had the car in for some minor paint repairs recently and I asked the bodyshop guy to check that the tip could be removed as it's usually a grub screw holding them in my experience of other makes.
He told me when i went back to collect that he'd had a look and that the tip was part of the exhaust and wouldn't come off. Was he just being lazy/ had forgotten to look or is he correct ? I'd assume if the part can be purchased separately then it's removeable.
Any help appreciated.

Have a look at realoem.com for the parts list diagram to confirm, but I assume the chrome tip is a removeable part on the One exhaust the same as on a Cooper S. In that case it is held on with barbed clips inside the trim, so to get it off you’ll need to tap it off from the front edge of the trim using a piece of wood as a drift.

The tip on a MINI is shaped like a Coke/Pepsi can. It is indeed held on by an allen key grub screw - 4mm IIRC. Whilst it's easy removing the grub screw, it's near impossible to pull it off the tailpipe as it's normally corroded on.
