R56 DRL fault

Hi all,
girlfriends Mini JCW (2010) has the official DRL kit, but they're not working right. One of the upper sections doesn't work when the headlight is on, but it works when the headlight isn't on. And the bottom sections are a bit hit n miss.

Can these units be serviced/bulbs replaced, or do we require entirely new light units?

I know this is an old post but I have been told to check the connection to the footwell module for rogue behaviour like this. Apparently if its corroded they can cause mischief
