Hi all, I have a 2002 Mini one 1.6 petrol, which I have purchased for £500 for a charity challenge in June this year. The car runs well, has new brake pads and discs all round, new tyres, has 47k on the clock and the engine sounds good.

The issue is that the speedo doesn't work, the ABS, Tyre Pressure and Handbrake lights are all on and the temp gauge flickers, everything else electrical works, including the panoramic roof.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas, looking through other threads, I have checked the BCU which looks ok and is dry, removed the tacho which made no difference and can no cables that are chaffing, it may be a broken cable but how do you find it?

I don't want to spend loads on it as it will be used to drive 4000 miles round the coastline along with two other £500 minis, just need to see what can be done, ideally get the speedo working, I can put up with the warning lights being on.

Any help would be appreciated, if you are interested in the charity challenge please look at www.themusketeers.co.uk.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like all could be linked to the ABS module, you need to get a good quality code reader on it.
