Service Light Not Resetting after Alternator Replacement -

Hi, hope this is the right forum.
Recently installed a new alternator, which involved having the battery disconnected for a day or two.
Upon finishing the job, the car tells me each time I turn the car on it's due it's service... By -180,000 miles!!
The car is nearly at 160,000 miles, and does get regularly serviced.
I've tried resetting it using the service menu, and it says it's successful, but it still doesn't clear and keeps coming back.
Anyone have any ideas what going on?
