A friend has asked me if I've had any experience of this code (which I haven't) on his 2009 Cooper, just wondering if anyone here
has encountered it and what was required to resolve it, some are saying it's often linked to the chain stretching or jumping a tooth,
others saying the solenoid is faulty. Any ideas?

I am guessing it could be either then, het the chain/tensioner/timing checked, that will tell you.

If you don't get an answer on here, suggest your friend asks on Mini2 where he will almost certainly get a helpful answer.

Swap the inlet and exhaust solenoids over and see if the fault code changes

first thing to do would be to get the timing tools fitted and see if that's correct imo
