Have you ordered your brand new Mini during Covid -19 pandemic together with short supplied of Semiconductor chips? How many months before you received your Mini? Also, are you happy & satisfied with the quality of the car?

Reason, I asked is when I sent my 18 months old Mini (Reg ‘20) for health checked at my local Mini dealer on Saturday 15/10/21. The sale person approached me and he said he offered to buy my car £4,000 more than the value when I bought. He said my car is in excellent conditions low mileage etc.

He offered me a brand new with fully specifications and that I was happy to purchased a new car with added £4,500 more. He said my new car will be ready at the beginning of February ‘22. I very much looking forward to receive my new car just a little sceptical regarding quality and function of the new car and waiting time. Especially, short supplied of semiconductor chips. I have heard my friend waiting for his CUPRA for 5 months 😬.

How is yours?

We were lucky, but we ordered my wife's Cooper S Convertible in mid March and it arrived in early June. That included the HK system, which is now a problem, HUD and quite a few extras. Sounds like lead times are stretching. Part of the delay was getting it across the lake from Netherlands where it's made, by a subbie. We didn't realise that and thought we were supporting the UK workforce at Oxford.

Thank you fun Boxster, good to know from your side and I’m so surprised my new Mini isn’t from Oxford!!! Also, I’ve heard that Mini factory will be moving to Munich soon.

It is sad that I won’t get HK system with this new car but to be honest, my current Mini has HK and I found it is performed pretty average. I’m thinking of upgrade my new car stereo system with Audison DSB and focal PS 165F.

Just to clarify, the hatches are made in Oxford. It's only the convertible that's made in Netherlands. Not sure about the Countryman. The salesman was very sheepish when I brought this up post order!
The next gen Mini will be coming from China, I understand, in a tie up with the Great Wall company.

Thank you for clarified that. Will my Mini Cooper S that due to be delivered in February is from Oxford plant? If so, hopefully I don’t have to wait too long then.

How come they wanted to move to China? Something to do with cost reduction?

Where did you find all these informations from? So insightful.

🙏

Current Countryman is made in Netherlands, next gen 2023 will move to Leipzig where the 1 series, 2 series and i3 is made.
Current hatchback and Clubman is still Oxford for now.

I ordered a 3 door JCW in mid-May with every option. Initially it was scheduled for mid-august, then it slipped to October then December and today they have estimated it mid March.

I'm not happy as I ordered it early so that I had a bit of an overlap with my lease car so that I could get it detailed but now it's looking like it will arrive months after the lease goes back.

I keep being told it's delayed due to the chip shortage but they have started delivering the JCW anniversary models which weren't even announced until mid July so I've raised it higher for a proper reason.

This sounds awful, waiting for your car to be delivered for almost a year. I’m about loose trust with my dealer
As well. I put down my deposit since 15th October and they haven’t yet order my car!!!!

I don’t understand why they haven’t ordered it unless they have hit their target for the month and are waiting for November.

There’sa pretty long thread on here with people waiting for cars. https://www.minif56.com/threads/anyone-else-waitin...

Thanks for the forum regarding waiting time. Well, I don’t understand it neither. A whole situation seems wired to me. I used to purchased 3 cars previously but nothing like this.

Btw, when I put down deposit of £500. The sale guy only given me a £500 receipt but has never produce paper work confirming agree final price. All he did was asked me to sign TCF documents and that was it!!!

Please advice anything I should do how to protect myself as I really don’t want nasty surprise when the car arrive. I’ll definitely ask the dealer to confirm in written of agreed final Payment.

You should have confirmation of what you've ordered, showing the full spec and price. I had to sign mine.

It's been so long since I ordered my car that prices have gone up but I'm still locked into the price it was when I ordered.

You should contact the dealer to ask about this.

Just spoke to the Manager of my dealer. He reassured me the specs and price as agreed. I demanded in writing
But who knows whether he’ll do it.

I really don’t mind if my car will be delayed for delivery but I would be pretty hack of if they are charging any hidden fee. Anyway, the final price agreed as promised and I don’t have to pay any tax or car registration fee etc.

Just waiting game!

We ordered a Cooper S Sport at the end of August and have been shown the database entry indicating that production is starting next week. It won’t have the digital dash and HK was unavailable to order in August.

Hi

I didn’t realise that the New Cooper S won’t come with Digital display quite disappointed but no big deal for me. It is annoying because a salesman at the dealer offered me choice of digital or analog display as I chose digital!!! Also, my pack will have a pop up display.

Where can you find the progress of your car being built? Is it in i Share? That only website they provided me.

Quite a few cars are coming through with digital dash now so you may be pleasantly surprised.

To find the progress you can use the online chat function on the mini homepage. There’s a blue circle on the bottom right of the main page. You need your order number and they will give you a bit of an update with what the estimated build week will be.

Ordered a new JCW Clubman back in early August, was told end of this month, it turned up at dealer PDI centre 2 weeks ago so actually earlier than expected.

When I ordered it local dealer matched the best Carwow offer I had and gave me a PX price, for point of delivery, that was 3.5k more than I paid for my 19 plate JCW Cab in January (gap filler when I came out of a leased 440).

I just missed out on the HK as they took it off the options list just before i ordered, but no big deal really, got some Audison kit going in it in a couple of weeks.

When I picked it up dealer did say i wouldn't have got that deal now as wait time is late April now, the used market must still be strong as if you want the car i part exchanged they'd like you to pay a staggering £7k more than i paid for it from a different main dealer in January.

It seems like the new car market is slowly picking up. That’s a long 5 months waiting 😲

We first ordered our SE last October, and are due to pick up the car this Friday…. That’s not the whole picture though, as one turned up in March but we had reject it, and this replacement has taken even longer than the first to be built. Unfortunately we seem to be pretty much bottom of the queue as a 3rd party lease customer order through Sytner group!
