Hi all

We have just ordered a Mini Countryman Cooper S special edition and initially the build and delivery was estimated as July 2-3rd week. However, on confirming the order it’s moved immediately to the 3rd week of September.

Ordinarily this wouldn’t be a problem however it’s replacing a company car going back in July so it’s an issue for us.

Anyone have an insight into mini build dates or advice?

Thanks in advance

What does your salesman say? Perhaps there's an upgrade imminent, or it could just be the ongoing chip shortage issue. We ordered a Cooper S Convertible on the day the showrooms opened again on 12 April with expected delivery last week. That's gone back till next week. The car is built, has left the factory and is In Customs, as it's made in the Netherlands. Had assumed it was built at Oxford! So much for supporting the UK workforce!

I am fairly certain the engines are made at Hams Hall In Warwickshire but it is a shame that the Countryman is not built at Oxford. From 2023 the Countryman will be built at Leipzig as BMWhave not renewed their contract with the Nedplant in Born, Netherlands.

We ordered a JCW hatch a couple of weeks ago... currently scheduled for late June delivery as they managed to hijack a factory build car slot for us. However a few Mini groups are talking about delays, so half expecting to hear bad news from the dealer...

(although as others have pointed out, the hatch (and Clubman) are made in Oxford whereas the Countryman and Convertible are Belgium so I imagine this cuts down the time a little)

I’ve got a jcw hatch on order, I found out yesterday that the Hk audio won’t be included in the build due to the chip shortage.

If you know your order number you can use the chat facility on the mini website and they will give you an update on what the estimated build date will be.

Hope they reduced the price to reflect the missing HK audio. Think it used to be a £500 cost option.

They have, it's a £600 option, well it was, it's now been removed from the configurator.

I'm now looking into aftermarket options. Audison looks like it will a fantastic alternative.

Thanks all. You were right about the reasons-semiconductors! Got a build date fully confirmed and have extended the current company car lease for a couple months at an extortionate rate. Mini have promised us a car on loan for September until the order arrives. Can’t wait to drive it now as it’s been 20 years since I’ve driven a petrol!
