Hello,

Looking for something automatic and posh-ish for the wife, and are look at the Paceman or Countryman for the wee bit of extra room and ground clearance.

With an £8k budget I am seeing a few 2012 -2015 examples with the Autobox for 1.6 engline, 2.0 SD and even the All4

Which year / engine set up would be the most reliable (i assume they all us the same automatic transmission)? Driving fun is not important.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had two autos - a Countryman Cooper S and a Paceman SD All4. Both of mine were faultess throughout my ownership and, if your'e happy with Diesel, the SD All4 would be my choice - good pick-up and punchy (if rather noisy), very secure in bad weather and 42mpg over 15000 miles of mixed driving. The Clubman and Coope S R56 I had both had clutch issues early that required a fight to get warranty to cover.

Thanks MacBoy.

May I ask how long have you had the the Countryman and Paceman for? Were they since new?

The auto Cooper D has a de- tuned 2.0.l from the Cooper SD , rather than the 1.6 you get with the manual D.
