We ordered a new Cooper S convertible for my wife on 12 April and last week realised we'd like to change the wheel choice from 17in Roulette's to Tentacles. I sent an email straightaway to the salesman, who we have a good relationship with, as this will be our third Mini from them.
However, he advised that as the order had been accepted by the factory, it was too late to change the wheels?
I found that difficult to believe, when the car won't probably be made for another 4-5 weeks?
Am I being naive?

Any advice would be welcome.

Do you have the order number? you can check with Mini Live chat to see which status the order is at. You can make changes up and including status 1200/112 Order scheduled for Production. After that you can't make changes, making a change can effect your estimated delivery date, it all depends on the factory.

I have a five digit order number on the order form for the dealer. Not sure what Mini Live chat is, or how to access it?

Factory order numbers are 7 digits long, you'll need to request it from your supplying dealer.

https://www.mini.co.uk/en_GB/home/range/john-coope...

Use the above link and you should get a live chat popup on the right. Just ask them what status and estimated delivery week your order is at.

iIRc mini lead time is about 2 weeks from order to scheduled for production status 1200 then another 2 weeks until you can get your hands on it, so yes I think you may have missed the boat

Lead times for most are delayed at the moment unless you jump the que and get an already allocated build slot.

I've received the order number this morning and the dealer has advised it's at 150 status, which is apparently past 112.

I tried the above link, but just got the JCW page and no pop up.

The JCW page is just one that triggers the live chat popup, you usually get it when your in the configure screens also.

Yes status 150 is production started so too late to make any changes.
