Girlfriend wants a mini, confused on options..
Discussion
Hi, my girlfriend has decided she wants a mini 5 door, narrowed it down to one she wants, just confused with all the options, never had a mini before, and the website has listed all the wrong options describing the car, says it’s got full screen and H/K speakers which it clearly has not.
I have vin checked the car, just wanted to confirm a few options.
Here’s the car in question..
https://www.1carcompany.co.uk/used-mini-hatch-coop...
Have told her to get the chilli pack to get the led headlights as I personally wouldn’t get a car with halogens again after xenons and led, are they adaptive led or just have cornering lights with the fog lights.
Will it have the ambient lighting? She fancies this after seeing another one in person which we didn’t decide to buy, also the other one we saw was keyless entry/start, I know keyless start is included, is entry included?
Also will it have Bluetooth audio as standard with the smaller screen.
Sorry for all the questions, the car is 3 hours away and would rather know before travelling.

Thats a little basic, no heated seats and it doesn't appear to have nav.
Personally the must haves are LED lights (they are not adaptive on this age - some have highbeam assist) Media XL is a must as are heated seats. everything else is just nice to have.
Don’t think it has sat nav, but she wouldn’t use it anyway, always uses iPhone sat nav, and to be honest it’s going to be used locally most of the time so no sat nav required.Personally the must haves are LED lights (they are not adaptive on this age - some have highbeam assist) Media XL is a must as are heated seats. everything else is just nice to have.
Media xl would be nice but i can’t find any under 10k with chilli pack and the big screen, needs to be 66 plate + too, so she can pcp it.
She isn’t into her cars as much as I am and most people are on here, she’s more concerned about the ambient lighting!
Previous cars a gtd golf without nav and heated seats, this car seems equally spec’d.
Have had a proper look, found a few more suited ones, just need to convince her now, having had the pro nav in a f31 bmw I know I would want it..

Go to the car buying thread, there is a guy there who is magic at finding folk cars.
I have a Mini Baker street edition, it has "ambient" lighting, it really is not worth paying extra for, you play with it a couple of times, find a "colour" you like then forget about it. When driving you really wouldn't know it was there. Pointless, but for BMW/Mini obviously attracts buyers as your girlfriend is a fan.
Why does she need 5 doors? If she is worried about style (ambient lighting) then a 3 door looks far better

We got a 2 year old daughter, so would prefer a 5 door, we both agree a 3 door looks a lot better.I have a Mini Baker street edition, it has "ambient" lighting, it really is not worth paying extra for, you play with it a couple of times, find a "colour" you like then forget about it. Been looking at copper SD’s the more expensive ones actually come out cheaper monthly because of the final payment residues, it’s easy to say oh it’s only a extra £5 a month or extra £10er, the black one linked at the start is £90 pcm.
She recently bought a 57 plate 120d for £3200, I heard a noise thought it was the timing chain, so took it too a bmw specialist and they done full diagnostics, loads wrong with it, costing over 2k to fix it all, we’re returning it as soon as log book comes!
I said to her to just get something cheap on pcp that’s new and reliable, only to get her to work and ferry the kid about, 1.5d will be more than enough, but now I’ve showed her the SD’s for same price she’s interested, she was really excited about the low spec black one when she got accepted on the finance, feel like I’ve shot my self in the foot now pointing out the low spec as for her it’s all she needs, now she’s unsure, when in reality it’s everything she needs.
If your set on PCP then the advertised price is irrelevant, whats your budget, term, monthly payment and deposit ?
If your doing lots of short trips then the 1.5 petrol is the one to go for it suits the Mini's character much better than the diesel.. I would also look at Mini dealers, the car will have a much better warranty. PCP figures are there too so you can compare prices quickly too.
This is a good spec one and orange !

Don't worry about distance either, all main dealers will deliver
1.5 diesel is still having issues with the EGR valves but they replacing them without issue.

Hi mate, didn’t even think of looking on minis own site, feel stupid now! I’ve just been using auto trader, you’re a legend that’s exactly what she wants, she’s going to phone up first thing tomorrow and check it’s still there and go for it.If your doing lots of short trips then the 1.5 petrol is the one to go for it suits the Mini's character much better than the diesel.. Edit:
Just went for a piss came downstairs and she had the biggest smile on her face, she had applied for the finance on the sly and been accepted so just have to wait for mini to phone her tomorrow and go through the rest, she always said she wanted a orange one since we saw a orange copper S fly past us one day.
Before showing her I asked her to list every option on her “dream” one, she said full screen nav, folding mirrors leds, and heated seats.. showed her that one, never seen her so happy...

Phoned and enquired about the orange one, the dealer is trying to charge us £300 for delivery, I’ve said to my partner no way, try to get the delivery for free so we are waiting to see what he says, they have had the car since october last year and have already reduced it once, I guess orange isn’t everyone’s colour!
Otherwise looks like I’ll be doing a 9 hour round trip to take her.. great!
