Anyone know how to register a new battery to the vehicle once replaced on a Mini Cooper S R56 - 2011 ? Its an AGM battery and as I understand the vehicle got Intelligent Battery management module. What tools do I need to get/buy to register the battery without going to Mini Service/ dealership ?

Looks like Bimmercode will do it - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMaMxSAdBts

You'll need to buy the app for your phone/tablet (£31) and a suitable OBD adaptor such as Vgate iCar Pro BLE 4.0 (£29 on Amazon).

Bimmercode can only code a new battery type, eg 80ah AGM to 90ah AGM it can't register a new battery. You need something like ISTA to register a new battery.

okay,so I need to buy the apps or get the programs. Sounds like I might have to get into a Mini dealership. :-(

Carly app and dongle should do it. If the battery is already fitted and this is the only reason you'd get a code reader I'd take it to a indy and ask them to code it. If you haven't bought the battery yet I would see whether Halfords or the AA can code the new battery.

Don't confuse coding a battery and registering a battery. If your replacing like for like then it needs registering, if you change battery type/size it needs coding also.
A local indi is your best bet and will cost less by the time you pay for an adaptor and app like Carly.
