My wife's R56 is displaying both the seatbelt and airbag warning lights. From what I've read so far the culprit might be a belt tensioner, or the seat mat sensor, or both, or just a random one off fault (which would cause a warning to be permanently shown). If it's only the belt tension sensor (cheap), will this also trip the airbag fault (expensive!). My bog standard OBD II scanner shows no faults. Anybody had any experiences? Thanks

I am not sure about the r56 but poor connectors under the seat are also culprits especially if you have had the seats taken out recently. Check and clean the connectors and then clear the faults and see if it helps.

The under-seat connectors are within a yellow 'slide' housing that keeps them all tight and in situ. Unless these have been pulled apart and not correctly seated, or there is corrosion on the terminals, then it may not be the connections that are at fault.

The scanner should help you specifically identify the issue and it could be the passenger seat occupancy pad, seatbelt pre-tensioner, or seat airbag.

I made the mistake of starting the car with one of the seats out which gave me the warning light and it needed a code reader to reset it. Hopefully you will be able to pinpoint and fix the issue easily once you get the diagnostic tool.

I have the exact same issue and all the research I've done seems to indicate that the slip ring on the steering wheel has a snapped ribbon cable so a new slip ring is needed.
I'm going to disassemble mine on Friday to get the part number for it (there are a number of possibles) and then see if I can order a replacement.

Mine in the end was a 93d7 error, the airbag control module between the seats had developed a software fault. Used a Creator v110+ diagnostic tool from eBay to identify. Took it out and sent it to crashdata.co.uk who reset it for £80 on a same day service, on fitting all errors cleared. It took a bit of digging to sort it out as local so called specialists didn't have a clue what to do apart from fit and pair a new unit which would have been hundreds £££££.

That does indeed look like the correct part.... don't think I'll be buying one new at that price though lol.
Thanks for looking that up for me, it's much appreciated
