Good morning our mini cooper engine light came on yesterday saying cat fault the car has only done 500 miles since I had a new one fitted I know it burns a little oil
Any ideas please

Take it back to the garage you got it fitted at and get them to have a proper look. Maybe a sensor or clip needs tightend
It could also just need a good run to get it up to temp to get it working properly. Find a covid safe excuse to go for a nice long motorway drive to get it all up to temp and see if the fault persists.

Why did it need a new cat ? normally the O2 sensors fail and its rarely the CAT
