So, looks like i've finally decided to change my daily, after 7 years faithful service.

Clubman is the choice. Few questions please folks;

Are there any must haves? Any known faults?

What is the ride like 18" v 19" wheels?

Is the leather more comfortable than the sports seats?

Have notice a fair old saving (many ££thousands) going for a lightly used year old example but do like the digital dash on the new cars. Can this be retro-fitted to earlier car?

Is the HUD worth having?

Many thanks, any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I would stick to the 18's, HUD is handy to have as when the fuel level drops to 50 miles the digital mph disappears, heated screen is nice to have, heated seats a must. I'd choose the alcantara sports seats over the lounge seats.

There are people that have retro fitted the digital dash but it seem HUD is needed to make it a simple fit. Pan roof would be a must have or me too.

The digital dash isn’t as good as others I’ve used and not worth basing your decision solely on that IMO. Here’s a quick video I did with my other half’s new Clubman.

I’d say HUD is far more useful than the digital dash (to the point I don’t reference the cluster when driving).

I found the ride with 19s to be noticeably more crashy than the 18s to the point that it detracted from the enjoyment for me / us.

Had our JCW 306 for 5 weeks now. I spec'd standard 18's for comfort/performance and didn't want diamond cut wheels again. Went with white silver, red roof, red stripes, pan roof and hud.
The digital dials are ok but only the centre is true digital and it's not very well layed out. With the HUD I hardly if ever look at the dials.
Weren't really looking at new but UK forces deal meant it was £11k off list.

You did well. I can’t see the JCW is now available on the U.K. Forces scheme. clubman Cooper S seems as high as it goes.
Just ordered a new factory order Countryman Cooper Classic for my wife under the U.K. forces scheme.

Correction. Just found the JCW clubman. I had searched under manual transmission. It’s showing discount of £7,300 off a base car with no options under the U.K. forces scheme.

The base price was £355 + 47x £355 with free metallic paint when I ordered. Options like pan roof only added £8 a month.

Ah , I thought you were referring to a discounted cash price. I have ordered as a cash purchase. The Clubman JCW All 4 now is 1x £383 + 47 x £383 base under the armed forces scheme.
