Clubman Cooper S or SD.
Discussion
I am looking into purchasing a F56.
I can’t decide, Cooper S or SD.
How does Petrol drive compared to a diesel in terms of power delivery, is the petrol dead without revving it out?
Had petrols all of my driving life, apart from a 330i which I loved.
How does the petrol sound? Any burbles from the exhaust? What about remapping?
Thanks

Do you mean an F54?
I have a 2018 Clubman Cooper SD.
As diesels go it’s a good one. Decent refinement, balanced with good performance.
Mine is an 8 speed auto which makes it an effortless motorway companion.
However I do 25k miles a year , so economy is a big priority for me.
It’s still a good drive and the near 50mpg average is compelling.
I think choice would come down to your usage and annual mileage.

I’ve got an F54 Cooper S, and I think it’s great fun. It was my partners, but he died last year...I’ve kept the car because it’s fun, practical and brisk. It never feels properly quick, but then it takes around 7 seconds to get to 60. It’s a 2018 model, with @92 bhp and the 7 speed ‘box. You don’t have to rev it...in sport the ‘box is very responsive...pr you can use the paddles. I wouldn’t want a diesel; part of the fun is the sound of the exhaust, which sounds better now it’s got 15k miles on the clock than it did when new!
You need to test drive it, all the turbo petrol engines have an excellent low-end torque response , the result of some clever mapping by BMW that runs the turbo in an anti-lag mode to spool it up quickly, so there's very useable torque from about 1500rpm
that and can you get 50+mpg , there's almost no need to bother with the diesel
