Views on the Mini JCW tuning kit please!
Discussion
I'm struggling to find a nealry new JCW I like on budget with the spec i really want. By comparison, MCS Sports are bang on the money but lack the sizzle IMO. It then got me thinking about the tuning kit, whether it's still available and what peoples views are on it. Even with that addition they still work out way less.
I can imagine a MCS 210 with dual clutch would only be a hairs breadth difference in performance to a regular JCW and they will look more or less the same (MCS Sport).
As for the exhaust note, what are peoples real-world experiences of it?
I like the idea of the childish pops and crackles in Track Mode when i'm out of earshot from civilisation, but on regular trips to the supermarket I don't want to sound like a mid-life-crisis on wheels. FYI - I've had a regular JCW prior to my current car which was totally fine in Mid/Sport.
Any views would be most welcome. I'm looking at a 2019 / 20 plate car.

I didn’t think you could get the silly Pro exhaust On the later PPF cars?
As I remember the journos pick of the bunch was the Cooper S 210. Mainly because it had to power of the JCW but with the more compliant suspension. However I think you could get the JCW and untick the sport suspension box, though I doubt there are many around.
A Cooper S will never feel as special as the JCW. If you add up all the bits, those chairs, brakes, turbo etc, they are good value.
I believe there was a short period where they made a LCI JCW with the fancy rear lights with no PPF. That would be the one I would be searching out. They sound good enough with the the standard JCW exhaust.
And I would give up on the perfect spec. You’ll never get it. Our previous R56 was fully loaded. Lounge leather, sunroof, heated screen and seats. When we were looking for an F55 MCS we really wanted the JCW exterior kit. No heated seats or sunroof which was a shame but we gave up.

Yes true the LCI was made from around early 2018 to mid 2018 I know this because I bought one before they fitted the PPF from sept 18 although some cars are registered 68 plate without.Edited by paultownsend on Friday 18th December 22:20
As for suspension I went standard sports which is fine but the 18" wheels with runflats need binning!

I’m sure if you found one with adaptive shocks, and the 17” wheels, you only be a set of Eibach springs and PS4’s away from a brilliant car.
Then with a pre PPF it will sound just right.
IMHO as above but with standard sports suspension. Then with a pre PPF it will sound just right.
Not a fan of adaptive suspensions had (PASM) on my gt4 and it went perfectly fine in sports mode, can never understand why some like their sports cars to drive like limo's! Think its a fairly modern thing ie Porsche went over to PASM circa 2005 now you even get it on a Mini.
If I was in the market for a secondhand mini my eyes would be out for the Challenge model made in 2017

I've got adaptive on my X3 M40 and I can't really tell the difference - and that's in an SUV!Not a fan of adaptive suspensions had (PASM) on my gt4 and it went perfectly fine in sports mode, can never understand why some like their sports cars to drive like limo's! I can't see the experience being night and day in a mini hatch.
