My first post on the Mini thread.

We're looking to replace my wife's 2018 Cooper S in March, probably with the same again, as my wife is so pleased with it. It's her second one, and both have been ultra reliable.

The only thing I don't like is the hard ride. I was talked out of speccing the AS last time by the salesman! as he didn't think it was worth it.

Does anyone have the optional AS, and if so, do you feel it improves the ride?

Thanks in advance

Just got a 3dr jcw with adaptive after having a jcw without it for 2 years. The ride in normal mode is a bit softer than a standard jcw but not so soft that it takes away the fun and feel of the car. In sport it’s harder than standard jcw and feels good if you are in he mood. Although it’s not cheap I’m pleased I swapped the Harmon kardon I had in the last one for adaptive in this one for the same money and I’d definitely spec it on the next one. If the standard ride is too harsh for you then you will feel a significant difference in my opinion.

P.s. get a jcw they are great.

We have adaptive in our 2016 MCS, in sport its stiff, we tend to leave it in normal. You would probably be better off with smaller wheels.

Thanks for your reply. I deliberately specced the smallest wheels I could-17inch cosmos. Is the ride ok in normal, cos my wife will never use the sport button.

I’ve got both adaptive and the smaller wheels on my JCW as I was wary of an uncomfortable ride on a day to day car. Feels like the best of both worlds to me no “crash, bang, wallop” in normal and plenty stiff enough (actually less compliant than my Spyder on 20” wheels) should you want it in sport.
