Has anyone fitted heating elements to an R56?

If so did you source OEM seats or use an aftermarket kit?

Thanks.

Apparently it can be done by Retro fitting the heated seats (obviously) add switches, wiring and then some coding, below taken from Facebook where someone has done it.

R56 Heated Seat Retrofit done.

Massive thanks to Lea and Lauren from MINI Bitz for the great deal on the controls and wiring.

For those interested, all you need in the controls (which are plug and play, no wiring required), and the wiring which goes from the SPEG/JBE/Fuse box to the seat connectors under each seat. Then coding, which is simple, just add $494 to the VO and default the CAS, FRM, SPEG and IHKA/IHKS, to updated the coding in the respective modules.

Then buy heated seats, bolt and plug them in.

Cool,

I'm hoping to retain the leather of mine, so presumably if I get some heated seats that are the same pattern I can swap the skins.

Thanks.

you need the under seat controllers, 2 additional looms for the controllers, the switches and the heated seats, then it is just a recode. In process of doing mine but knee op delaying completion.

If you don't have the auto climate but the heater dial setup I have a spare set of the switches in silver (bought the wrong ones)

Saw these guys on a YT vid I watched recently. Might be worth a call if you want to go down the retrofit route:

I have the auto climate and black switches, but was going to price the bits you could see up as new parts. BMW experience is that you will always be surprised, sometimes pleasantly.

loom wires were about £50 which seemed cheap for genuine stuff, more expensive on the bay

I have seen retro fit for R53, but not R56?

Have you the part numbers ?
