Hi, hoping for some expert advice! In the market for a mini convertible cooper s, budget is about £2.5k or so. Going to look at a 2006 cooper s, 74k, looks to have very good history. £2500 seems a good / about right price if it checks out!

Had some suspension bushes replaced to get it through its MOT last month. Only other minor on the MOT is corroded brake pipes.

But, it now has an airbag wasrning light. From what I've read, this is common and most likely the wring under the seat. If it is this, what do I need to reset the light? I've read and googled but thoroughly confused as to exactly which OBD type bit of kit I need.

Also, other than what is in the buying guide on here (which is excellent) anything else to look out for? This will be a second car, few thousand miles a year!

Most £30 fault code readers will clear the airbag light, we have seen one where we had to replace the speedo because of an airbag light.

With the cooper s biggest hurdle is the engine, mpg is poor too.

Make sure the roof works too.

Airbag warning light could be one of many things & obviously whatever it is will need to be fixed rather than just reset as it will just come back.

Could be a £50 job, could be a £500 job or possibly more, I wouldn't buy without getting the code read first personally.

There are many readers that work well with these and they are typically around £30/40 on the bay of e.

This is one I have used before & they work fairly well with most systems on the car.

This is a bit better & also works well.

Thanks both, the creator readers I'd seen but wasn't sure if they worked. Will be trying to confirm error code on airbag before I part with cash.

Anything out of the ordinary to check on the roof, had an mx5 previously and the drain holes were a bit awkward.

Does £2.5k for a 2006 with 74k and good history seem about right? It has chilli pack if that makes a difference at this age / price!

For £2.5 I would expect lots of history, good condition, good consumable condition & plenty of MOT with everything working well, is that from a dealer or private?
