What Mini should I go for? are DPF problems common

Hi All,
Looking at getting a mini for my next car, after my diesel Audi A1finally died, the issue was to do with DPF filter and EGF valve, is this something that also occurs often on minis or are the Audi's more widely affected by this? I couldn't see as many posts online about minis suffering from this as Audis. My journey distance should also be going up as I'll be doing regular drives to Manchester (from Hertfordshire) instead of the town driving I was doing in the Audi.
I have found two listings for minis that match the interior spec I'm looking for:
2014 mini hatch 1.5 petrol, 50000 miles - £8000
2014 mini hatch 1.5 diesel, 40000 miles - £7295
The diesel is obviously a better deal but is this due to it being a less reliable engine? any advice would be much appreciated, I'm mainly looking to afford some of the costly bills I got on my A1!
