F56 first service ?
Discussion
Can someone please tell me when the first service is due on a F56 2017 petrol Cooper please ?
It’s just coming up to 3 years old and the service light has just come on at circa 18k miles. I always was under the impression that it was condition based servicing (and so wasn’t concerned that it’s taken so long to come up) but the typically arrogant dealership had said it’s missed it’s 2 year service so effectively needs that one and this one ... at £406 .. up from £133.
This seems utter nonsense to me, it’s either CBS or not.
Can anyone clarify one way or the other as I’ve been passed from one incompetent call centre to another with no concrete answer.

Its cbs or 2 years which ever comes first. Mines a 2018 and was due a service in April when all dealers were locked down. Everytme started car after April warning light came on to say service was due mileage only about 11k.
Ok mines a facelift but cant see software being any different. on a 2017. At 3yrs old will also require a brake fluid change. If history stored on Idrive will also show that 2year service was done late.
Could cause problems if you still have any new warranty leftt
BMW/Mini been cbs or 2yrs since 2009- could have been earlier.

Thanks for that, I can’t understand why the service indicator has only just come on after 3 years/18k Miles. I would have assumed it would come on after 2 years if that was the case, irrespective of mileage (which was about 11k at the time).Ok mines a facelift but cant see software being any different. on a 2017. I don't know if this is any help, but my 2012 Mini one diesel, has several "service" type lights that come on, have you checked the handbook for the correct image and what service is required?
When you take the key in, and they check on the computer it comes up with the exact required service. It could be confused with the "MOT" one?....which must be reset when done, and sometimes forgotten

I've had my 2017 F56 Cooper S from new(purchased August 2017) and it had its first service(oil) in August 2019(only doing around 5k miles a year in it). It has just had its second service(August 2020) for a brake fluid change(3 years change from new then it is every 2 years).
Oil service should be every 2 years or 18k miles(whichever comes first).

Hi, thanks for all the help.
The issues have arisen due to everything being through a call centre, being passed from pillar to post a zillion times and them not knowing a ducks arse from a banjo. Eight calls, two cancelled bookings, three different prices. We had the same thing trying to buy one, and ended up saving 2 grand buying the same spec, lower mileage car from a Suzuki dealer 180 miles away.
Thank God it's done now, and I won't have to frequent Mini dealerships again. It's saying something when the other half won't even take it back for a free MOT and would rather just give it to someone else and pay the fee.

If I'm understanding this correctly the above was for this carWe had the same thing trying to buy one, and ended up saving 2 grand buying the same spec, lower mileage car from a Suzuki dealer 180 miles away..
That could explain why had all problems, if more than 2 years old and first service missed than MINI wouldn't sell with AUC warranty or maybe not honor any remaining part of the 3 year warranty
That's not MINI's fault should have been checked at time of purchase- still 2 grand saving is not to be sniffed at, count yourself fortunate that car didn't have any problems before Mini 3years warranty expired.

It’s 2 years or variable mileage starting from 19k. Mines a 2018 model. Since mine was serviced in July it has increased the mileage by 3k by itself. Oil service should be every 2 years or 18k miles(whichever comes first).

It did seem a bit weird now you mention it, and when it was new it said either 18k or 19k miles I can't remember exactly. Then after it had its first oil change it only gave me 15k miles on the OBC...and I felt a bit short changed with that! cerb4.5lee said:
