Hi all.
Just looking for an internet diagnosis for this problem.

Low mileage (sub 40k) 2008 Cooper Clubman. On the move theres a definite rubbing noise coming from the drivers side front wheel area which becomes more pronounced when turning left. Taken the caliper off and it seems fine - doesn't seem sticky which I know is a problem on some Minis. Pads do seem very close to the disc though and there is a slight rub when turning the wheel off the ground but doesn't seem to be enough to be causing the problem.

Anything else I can check before getting it into a garage? Would rather sort it myself than pay someone else to do it...

Wheel bearing? MINIs are notorious for them.

Jack it up and spin it to see if you can hear it, then give it a thump and a wiggle top to bottom to see if any play?

I know you'll think I'm mad but I had a similar noise on our 2008 Clubman which I was 100% convinced was coming from the front passenger wheel. I checked the brake and the wheel bearing but couldn't find anything wrong. It turned out to actually be the rear caliper sticking. Maybe some weird acoustic makes it sound like the front is playing up but I definitely sorted the problem by changing the rear caliper.
